House Crazy in Michgan

Just call me house crazy...but I love buying an old place in need of work and making it mine. I've done it twice, and both times it was what the real estate market calls an "estate" home. That's short-hand for cheap and in bad shape!
Small House Under a Big Sky is the story of my current home, a vintage 2,000 sq. ft. modest Ranch home in South Western Michigan bought when I was 50. This adventure has been full of love and lessons, many I've learned the way I usually do - the hard way.
I hope you'll check in often and be patient with me as I am learning to blog at the same time.
Welcome to Small House.

  1. Hi, Donna:

I just discovered your blog through a comment that you made on a favorite blog of mine. You had asked a question about "Artful Blogging", and whether it was worth the $59 subscription rate. You had indicated you were looking for more than a magazine about blogs, that you were looking for more of a "how to".

I adore Artful Blogging, but I buy it for the gorgeous photographs and blogs that are featured.

If you are interested in learning a little more about "how to" for bloggers, I would skip the magazine. Most bloggers are happy to answer any questions you have without having to spend money. I'd be happy to point you in the direction of a couple of favorites of mine if you like.

Welcome to the blogging world. I live in north Texas, but for many years, I lived in NW Indiana, and spent a lot of time in SW Michigan.

    I'm your first "follower" :)

  2. Hi Donna!
I'm like you...new at blogging this year. I was also wondering about "how to" ideas for newbee bloggers. I've learned a lot just through googling questions. I love the magazine Artful Blogger just because it is inspiring.
    Thanks for visiting my site!

  4. Hi Donna, Thanks for coming by Quirky Vistas and leaving me such great comment. I'm now following and hope you'll come by and do the same at my place. I love the story of your home. Can't wait to see some pictures of today's home. If you have old photos before digital times of your first home, you could always scan them. It would be really fun to see the shots from the house you got when you were younger. It sounds wonderful.

  5. Hi Donna,
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment. I too love the story about your home. I hope that you will share the progress with us soon.

As for the green on the old box. I actually found it that way. It was a drawer from an old library cabinet. If I had the funds I would have bought several of them. Found it in an antique shop in Raleigh NC.

    hugs
